Christmas is coming!
Over the weekend we put up our Christmas tree!
It was a wet overcast afternoon, and the kids were eager to put the tree up. It was the perfect day to put up our family Christmas tree. We put my new favourite Christmas carol album on Spotify and enjoyed watching the kids put the decorations on the tree.
By the way, my new favourite Christmas album is by a band called ‘For King and Country’. This year I am pushing Michael Buble and Mariah Carey off the Spotify Christmas carol list.
We usually wait till the first weekend of December to put up the tree, but not this year!!
We decided to do it early.
Getting into the Christmas spirit sooner isn’t a bad thing to do. Christmas is a special time of the year for us, as it holds some very dear memories. Hubby and I met at the Cottontree Carols in Maroochydore on the 17th December 2000, and we have been inseparable ever since. Can’t believe that the big year of 2000 was 17 years ago. This year we celebrate our 16 th wedding anniversary!
I have to admit that I am a fan of Christmas movies.
Hello. My name is Sarah, and I like Christmas movies (well some, not all).
One of my favourites is ‘Love Actually’, but it’s not exactly a ‘family’ Christmas movie, so that is one I wait to watch either on my own, or when hubby wants to chill with me and doesn’t mind what we watch. 🙂
Here is the family friendly Christmas list….
‘Home Alone 1 and 2’,
‘Christmas with the Kranks’,
‘The Santa Clause Movie 1,2 and 3
’National Lampoons: Christmas vacation’.
‘Elf’ (when I am forced too watch it – I’m not a fan of Will Ferrell)
‘I’ll be home for Christmas’
Ernest Saves Christmas
As a family we enjoy Christmas traditions. Specifically, the Christian traditions of Christmas. Christmas is a fun time of year.
There’s nothing like Christmas carols, family orientated Christmas movies, White christmas with no cherries, rum balls, Church events, looking out for homes with Christmas lights, getting together with family, and all things that make up the Christmas season.
Christmas is a great time of year to buy for our loved ones. The kids already have their Christmas lists ready to go. We usually try and keep Christmas simple with a simple plan of action – something to read, something to wear, and something to play with. It’s a good and easy way to keep presents in check when you have a large family.
Our church has decided to make the month of December a month full of Christmas celebrations, so its going to be a lot of fun!
If you are on the Sunshine Coast and you would like to go to a Christmas event at a church, feel free to drop in at Calvary Christian Church in Tanawha. We are planning on having an awesome Christmas Eve service at 6pm. Both services will be great, but the evening one will be quite the event, I hear.
A few years ago, I was gifted the Donna Hay, Fresh and Simple DVD set and recipe book. Over the last couple of years, our menu for Christmas has been based on Donna Hay’s Christmas recipes. Click here to the see the trailer to the Fresh and Simple Donna Hay DVD. If you are interested, I think you can still get it at the ABC shop.
I’d love to hear how you get ready for Christmas. Do you have any traditions?
