Pregnancy baby and children’s expo Brisbane 2012
It was bumpa to bumpa pregnant women, strollers, children, and dads with kids on shoulders, but last weekend was a very successful weekend for the PBC expo. What is this PBC expo – it is the Pregnancy, Baby and Children Expo that comes to the Brisbane Convention Centre every June. I have been to the expo quite a few times now and every year I am blown away by the magnitude of the expo. This year my eldest child was 9 and a half, and my youngest is 17 1/2 months. We weren’t on the look out for anything specific as we really went for the fun of it.…

Childhood Issues…
I feel like each one of my kids have issues at the moment. Amy, has issues with CRMO, and because of the medication, she struggles with feeling unwell and has pain in her legs. Bethy has sprained her foot. Not her ankle – the top of her foot! I am still trying to work out how on earth she sprained the top of her foot? Chanel has been feeling sick and pain in her tummy, and has just had tests done to see whats going on. Our little boy Jaden has a cold, but he seems to have issues with his hearing. Thankfully I have a GP who I…

Is friendship hard at any age?
Recently I have started to look at my life in terms of the people I see on a regular basis. I have realised that the mums at school who I see on a regular basis really do form my immediate friendship group. Don’t get me wrong I have some very close friends, but I find that I don’t get to socialise often. Here is my issue. I have four kids, a house with all the chores that need to happen in it, my eldest child has an medical condition called CRMO, Bethy has some learning issues at school and Chanel is going well at the moment, and my…

When’s the baby due?
This is the worse question any woman has to face when they aren’t actually pregnant! I have to say that I have experienced this a number of times, and its not fun. I have a problem with my tummy – its a problem that started when I started my family. I wish I was told up front about what ‘could’ happen when a woman starts her family, because whatever I wasn’t told – it happened! I think it was also exacerbated some by the fact that I have needed to have c-sections to deliver my babies. Four c-sections and five pregnancies have not been kind to my…

Hubby or kids first?
I am a guilty wife….I have to say that there is a pecking order in our household – usually goes from the littlest to the oldest and then me – or the one with the greatest need at the time gets preference. When you look at it – its quite reactive rather than successful planning! Yesterday hubby and I went on our very first date in just under 17 months. In two days Jaden will be 17 months old. So really our last date, was well…I don’t actually want to think about it! I know your all probably falling off your chairs at the thought of this, but with breastfeeding,…

Toy Challenge for the toy challenged Public Hospitals of Australia
With our eldest daughter needing to stay at the Children’s ward at both Nambour Hospital and also the Royal Children’s hospital in Brisbane we have become quite accustomed to the boredom that comes with staying in hospital. While we have been treated very well, at both Nambour and Brisbane, the Royal Children’s hospital offers more options for the children. If the children are of school age, patients and siblings are welcome to use the school on site. If children are well enough for school, but unable to attend the school teachers roam the hallways of the wards. The Wonder Factory is open outside school hours and…

Finding that thing you do!
Family life is rewarding on so many levels. The love I have for each person in my family is not in question, but I have to be honest and say this – As rewarding as family life is – I am in desperate need of some time for myself. I am certainly NOT a desperate housewife by any means, but I am in need of a hobby, project or job. I would love my ‘thing’ to earn some money so that I feel like I am contributing financially….but with limited time and ideas its hard to find that ‘thing’. One of the issues I have is that…

Life with kids can be….
Although this blackboard sign sends chills throughout my being – I don’t need or want a kitten, I do understand what it must be like for store owners/managers when my tribe and I go shopping. Today we dropped in on a Lifeline store close to home, and I am sure they breathed freely once we had left. All four of our kids were having fun in the toy area of the store, pulling out games, toys, books, and clothes. I have to be honest and say that I was thankful that the strange bearded man was not on duty today. He does not cope with the chaos…
