Living your Best Life – Nobody has it altogether!
Do you think its possible to ever get to a place where you actually have it altogether? I got a laugh out of this You tube video a friend of mine posted to facebook. It depicts a family walking through the doors of their church – Everyone turns to admire this family, because….’they have it all together’. Little do their church family know how their morning went. I encourage you to watch. http://youtu.be/WdtEYNW2t0Q It’s so easy to think that others have their lives sorted. Its easy to believe that ‘others’ have it altogether, and its easy to feel as though we are the only ones who understand what…

The Tooth Fairy ran out of Money
Last week our Tooth Fairy ran out of money. All she had in her pretty little purse was 65 cents and she really did not feel this was enough for our little Chanel. That evening, I had taken the girls and a couple of their friends from school to the local skating rink for cheap Tuesday Skating. Chanel bumped into another learner skater and further loosened her already wobbly top front tooth. While Chanel was not hurt, she was now able to wobble it much more than what she could do previously….and believe me, every time she wobbled it – my tummy turned. I can not look at…

Hidden Treasure in the Old Family Home
Recently, my mum and her husband sold their home in Brisbane. They have enjoyed living at their onsite van in a nearby caravan park for the last so many years, but a number of months ago, mum found the villa of her dreams in Currimundi, so they decided it was time to sell their home in Brisbane. Over the last so many months, the house has had a mini facelift. The walls have been painted, the bathroom has been retiled and modernized, carpets have been placed in the bedrooms, and the gardens have been freshened up. It looks pretty good. Then, before we knew it – the parents…

The Easter Holidays are about to start….3 hours to go!
Wahooo!!! In just a few short hours I will be picking up my three adorable cherubs from school and saying Sayōnara to school life for 2 weeks. I am very excited! If you know me, you will know that I am one of those parents who just loves school holidays. I see school holidays as my opportunity to have fun with the kids. It’s an opportunity to relax and make some memories with the kids. I find it incredibly amusing how many mothers dread the school holidays, I must seem somewhat crazy to these mums – but I love holidays! Having four kids does make holiday time somewhat expensive,…

Are our kids spoilt?
I have to admit that as I write this blog post I am still thinking about the title . I know that many kids in todays society are spoilt, but the question I ask – are my children spoilt? Last weekend, the Weekend Sunrise team interviewed Hattie Garlick. Hattie is a mum in the U.K. who has started writing a blog called www.freeourkids.co.uk. The purpose for this blog is to document her son’s progress over the next twelve months. This blog has gone globally crazy, not because she is another parent blogging about her two year son, but because she has declared that she and her…

The Universe Says NO!
The sun….the same sun that usually lights up the Sunshine Coast, is missing in action. Its dreary, rainy and quite miserable outside. Not sure who names a cyclone, Oswald, but this Oswald character has and is causing havoc on the Queensland Coastline. Chanel is six and does not like school. She would much prefer to be home playing or going on ‘excursions’ as she puts it. I am unsure as to where she heard the terminology, but her fabulous comment this weekend is ‘The Universe must hate that school is starting back on Tuesday!’. ‘Ozziewuld’, as she calls Oswald ‘obviously hates that we are going back to school –…

Grandparents!
Recently the Sunrise Weekend show on channel 7 shared James K Flannigan’s letter to his grandchildren. Mr Flannigan’s letter really enriched my life and is very special – so I wanted to share it with my readers. As 2012 comes to a close, and 2013 begins, I felt it appropriate to share. I hope that this letter enriches your lives as it has mine. Happy New Year to all my readers. I sincerely hope that you have a fantastic 2013. On Sept. 3, 2012, James K. Flanagan of West Long Branch, N.J., died unexpectedly of a heart attack. He wrote this letter to his five…

School holidays, reflecting on the past and looking to the future!
The Summer school holidays started with a bang! The count down to Christmas is on, and the excitement is starting to build. In some ways it feels a little surreal – I know the holidays have started – but at the same time I feel that I have to pinch myself to believe that the holidays have actually arrived. The end of year excitement is in the air and I love it. Its my favourite time of the year. Christmas is everywhere, the days are longer, the nights are lovely. It just a wonderful time of year. This time of year brings a lot of love to the…
