    Simplifying and Enjoying Motherhood

What do you do when you feel like you have lost your pizzazz, or your sparkle? Everything’s fine.   Except for one thing – I have been feeling as though my life is too busy, and this ‘busyness’ feeling stops me feeling connected and fully engaged with our kids. I’m not depressed, or blue. I just feel a little overwhelmed with how much there needs to be done on a daily basis to keep our household running smoothly, our children well, homework and school assessments in order, nutritious food on the table, the laundry in control, and all those other things that feel as though they need to have been done yesterday. When I…

    The Daniel Morcombe Verdict

While I sit and write this piece, there is another mother on the Sunshine Coast who is finally allowed to really mourn the loss of her little boy.   Yesterday marked a significant milestone for the Morcombe family.  After ten painful years, Brett Peter Cowan, was found, trialled and found guilty for the abduction and murder of Daniel Morcombe.   Today this man was sentenced to life in prison, with a 20 year minimum sentence.  The judge told the parole board that it would be advisable to never allow this man parole. What angers me the most about this situation is that we found out that Daniel would be here…

A Mothers work is never done!

When school returned three weeks ago, I assumed I would gain time to write, and accomplish a few things on my mummy list, but also a number of things on my ‘Things Sarah wants to accomplish list’. Oh, how wrong I was! Two out of the three girls settled back into school life well – and quickly.   Our beautiful middle daughter, has found learning difficult, and while we are helping her at home, She also receives learning support at school, Bethy’s self confidence needs a little work, so we have been having lots of chats about how joy comes from within, and no one can make her happy, Bethy…

How to Have a Merry Christmas – Keep it Simple!!!

Its been weeks since I have written!   Not because I haven’t wanted to write, I have just had a lot on my plate.  Our lives have been rather hectic and chaotic over the last few weeks, actually the last couple of months,  I literally haven’t had a chance to write – although I must say that I have been giving ‘the next blog post’ some thought.   The next blog post is always on my mind!  🙂 The school year literally screeched to a halt on the 5th December, and I must admit that I had been feeling as though we were on an emotional roller coaster right…

My Top 10 Hints for Simple Living

I recently ‘liked’ a page on facebook called ‘Old Sunshine Coast’ and I have felt very priviledged to have a birds eye view back to the past. I moved to the Sunshine Coast at a time in my life where I was single and completely and utterly responsible for myself. Some might consider those days ‘The good old days’, and I have to admit that I have moments where I miss that girl – but I am quickly reminded of how blessed I am to have the husband I have and the children I have. When I look at those old photos of the coast, I can’t help but think…

    Get Inspired!

Amy, our 11 year old daughter came home excited on Friday from school.   She wanted to show me a video of this ‘funny little kid who dresses like the President!’.  Amy was introduced to ‘Kid President’ at school, so we sat down at the computer together’, and before I knew it – I had four children crowding the computer.  Kid President is infectious! The Kid President puts a smile on your face straight away.   He has an infectious smile and a hilarious little laugh, and you can just see he has a fun personality. The Kid President’s mission: Is to give you a pep talk! and to help…

Urgency in the heart, or is it just the pending Midlife Crisis?!

Its Monday.   The First day of the second week of term 4 (2013).   After today, our school year has 7 weeks and 4 days left for the year – not that I am counting!   This week is also ‘week 43’ of the calendar year, and this means that we have 9 weeks and 5 days till the end of 2013. Before we know it, Christmas and January 2014 will be upon us. Isn’t this a sobering thought?  Time is flying past far too quickly for my liking. I woke today feeling a sense of urgency in my spirit. I’m still trying to work out exactly what the…

Back to School after a fun filled September Holidays

I can’t believe two weeks has passed since I blogged last!  Its true – time does go faster when you’re having fun!! Life in our house over the school holiday period was very fast and very fun, and because holidays are all about quality time with the kids, I really wanted to be present – in mind and spirit with them.   So, knowing how easy it is for me to go into ‘the Mischievious Mum’ world of blogging, I decided to put blogging on the back burner for the school holidays. It was time to have fun with the kids! We looked at my last blog post ‘How to…
