Eye specialists and fun in Maleny
I love spontaneous fun days. It started with some apprehension as I had to go to an eye specialist and have my optic nerves checked, apparently they appeared swollen in a recent optometrist appointment, but as it turns out, I am just one of those people who are born with thicker optic nerves! Yay for me! As we were leaving, we got hit with a bill for this eye specialist appointment. We should have asked what this appointment was going to cost however it came as a shock…$312! Yep…I know! I nearly squawked! Instead, I calmly (not calm on the inside) passed the lady my bank…

Shoulda Woulda Coulda
There are two remarkable things in life. The first is hindsight. Hindsight is a wonderful tool and sometimes painful tool too learn our life lessons, and the second is a child’s point of view. When I was a child I tried to jump into adulthood as fast as I could. I mostly enjoyed my childhood, but I wanted to grow up and be responsible and live my life – I loved the idea of independence. Although at the time, I don’t think the word independence was the word I used. I imagined my adult life a little different in terms of how it has worked out, but none the…

What did I find at the Caloundra Sunny Coast baby and kids Markets
This morning was market morning at the Caloundra Indoor Sports Centre on North Street. It was fun to roam the stalls having a look at what was available for sale. The girls were a little sad that the lady selling the Beanie kids was not there, but I reminded them that it wasn’t possible to have the same people all the time as people are busy. I am sure at some stage she will be back – fingers crossed! 🙂 So first of all I am going to skyte that I bought a couple of bargains… two pairs of shoes for Jaden – $6, a pair of size…

Putting a price on Fun!
A couple of weeks ago to buy the Myfun – Seaworld, Movieworld and Wet’n Wild tickets for the family. We haven’t done anything like that before, but we discovered yesterday that if you want to buy tickets at the gate (Movie World), you will be paying the hefty price of $79.95 for an adult for one day at the theme park, and $49.95 for children and concession tickets. Because of the cost involved for a large-ish family it made sense for us to buy the VIP MyFun Tickets – Myfun.com.au. We went to Movie world today and I learned a couple of things. I learned that Amy is…

The youth just don’t understand good food!
Its funny because when I was young, living at home with my family I remember my mum would get really excited when she went grocery shopping and had come home with fruit and vegetables. Yep! That’s right I did say it. My mum would get really excited about buying good fruit and vegetables! Now, I have to admit it that when I would see mum so happy about her fruit and vegetables I did think that she was nuts. Now that I am well and truly an adult and I am getting older I have realised that in many ways I am not really a spring chicken. I have always…

Toy Challenge for the toy challenged Public Hospitals of Australia
With our eldest daughter needing to stay at the Children’s ward at both Nambour Hospital and also the Royal Children’s hospital in Brisbane we have become quite accustomed to the boredom that comes with staying in hospital. While we have been treated very well, at both Nambour and Brisbane, the Royal Children’s hospital offers more options for the children. If the children are of school age, patients and siblings are welcome to use the school on site. If children are well enough for school, but unable to attend the school teachers roam the hallways of the wards. The Wonder Factory is open outside school hours and…

Caloundra-Maleny Show Holiday 2012
I am one of those mums who love holidays, public holidays, pupil free days, show holidays and weekends. I love the days, we don’t have to run to a routine – the SCHOOL ROUTINE! It is lovely to have a break – especially on a cold wintery day like today. As I write this blog post, my 16 1/2 month old little boy sleeps next to me. My girls are playing happily in the fort and I am happily watching my eldest read The Wimpy Kid – Rodderick Rules to the other two girls. They are snuggled in doona’s, pillows, and warm clothing in the fort….happy and relaxed.…
