The Gallery of Modern Art Brisbane

Over the Easter school holidays we took the kids down to Brisbane and visited the Gallery of Modern Art.   We really loved our little adventure and wished we got down to Brisbane sooner, as there was so much to see.  I think we only just touched the surface.  There really is something for everyone.   No one will walk away disappointed.  The effort to drive down to Brisbane was so worth it!  We definitely want to go again. Next time though we will make a day of it, and make time to explore Southbank and go on one of the red ferries that travels along the Brisbane River – One of my…

    Gold Coast Holiday 2016 – The Q1

Since we last spoke, life got a little busy with end of year school related busyness and then we headed off to the Gold Coast for our family holiday.  We had ten glorious days on the Gold Coast. I got a brilliant deal at the Q1 via an eBay deal. I know what your thinking, “You got a great holiday deal on eBay?  That sound crazy!” Well yes it was crazy – but it was pretty awesome.  I don’t like to brag but when it comes to getting brilliant deals, I must say that I have some amazing skills. Our 2 bedroom apartment was on the 32nd floor and we had amazing…

Become a Tourist in your own City!

The school holidays are here and I don’t think I have to remind you all that I am ‘one of those mums‘. I am a mother who loves the school holidays.  I count the days down to the holidays and I put off thinking about going back to school till I absolutely have too.  Not because I dislike homeschooling, I just want to enjoy every moment of the holidays we can finding the balance between relaxing and adventuring together. Sure we could jump in the car and head up to Aussie World or the Australia Zoo, and there is nothing wrong with those options, but the cost of entry for a…

    Mischievious Mum’s Favourite Things 2015

Do you remember the Oprah show?   I have to admit I miss the Oprah show, particularly the give away shows. The Extravagant “Oprah’s Favourite things’ shows.  I loved seeing Oprah give away luxurious gifts to her shocked and very excited crowds.  Remember the holiday to Australia for all those American teachers, and the time she presented everyone with a new car? Each year, Oprah puts together a list of things that she calls ‘Oprah’s Favourite Things’, and of course this year is no different.  I’m not sure how she goes about giving it all away these days, but I know she can still put together a fabulous ‘favourites list’. Now,  I must remind…

    Glamping Fun!

Last weekend we ‘Glamped’ at the Broadwater Tourist Park on the Gold Coast.  We were going to camp, but we had a number of cold nights here, and I chickened out of camping in a tent because I really didn’t feel that we were set up to camp in the cold.   I’m still keen to camp but now that I have experienced the cabin option, I’m in love with glamping. Our cabin number was 312. It was the first cabin along the beach front and we had the best view of the little  beach, and our view to Sea World was lovely.  Our weekend away was literally the most…

    Celebrating Gratefulness

We don’t celebrate ‘Thanksgiving’ day here in Australia and I think we should.  The American’s formally celebrate Thanksgiving each year on the third Thursday in November, and have done so since 1941.   American’s may not have all the right answers to the big questions, but I do think they have a great idea in terms of their ‘Thanksgiving’ day. Imagine if we had a day off to celebrate gratefulness.  How great would that be?  (no pun intended) We have so many things in our lives to be thankful for, and the older I get – the more I understand how gratifying the simple pleasures really are.  A princess doesn’t need a…

Holiday Ideas for Winter on the Coast

I wish it was possible to travel back in time. I’d go back to 3.00pm on the 27th June.   The last day of school term for semester 1. I’d really like to start the holidays again! While we had fun times over the holidays, the second week was neither relaxing or fun. Especially for poor hubby, who had to have his wisdom teeth out – all four of them needed to be surgically removed, and the recovery time was especially tough.  Hubby was a good patient.  I am however not a good nurse.   I have the utmost respect for nurses and I must say that if it was up…

    Making time for our Kids

What a month.  I can’t believe how quickly March disappeared, and now here we are in April. The middle of April! Since I posted last, I have been one very busy mumma.  The last week of school was full of activity.   The two older girls went to school camp,  Bethy turned 10, we had two family parties to celebrate Bethy’s birthday over that weekend, the week before camp was all about Parent/teacher interviews, our very first Sunshine Coast bloggers group met for the first time, and I have had a teeny bit of time to work on a project I am wanting to spend more time on.  Not to…
