    Disorganised Christmas Mum

It turns out that the word insanity can be defined as doing the same thing over and over trying to get a different result. Every year I vow that next year is going to be more organised with regard to Christmas shopping. I always think I have plenty of time, and every year I feel a little stressed leading up to Christmas day. I know I am not the only one because there are other crazed looking people at the shops also looking for the perfect gift for their indecisive teenagers. I am the mother of three daughters and a little boy, two are indecisive. I believe perfect is the…

    The Christmas Jars Movie

It’s December! December is one of the busiest months of the year – Family and friends catch ups, Christmas events, holidays, celebrations, preparing for Christmas and Christmas movies. We love Christmas movies. Last year we enjoyed ‘The Christmas Chronicles’ on Netflix, and while I hear there is a second instalment to ‘The Christmas Chronicles’ now out on Netflix, we are no longer subscribers to the service. This year, we opted to see a movie called ‘The Christmas Jars’. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and it is a movie that I look forward to seeing again next year, and I did need a few tissues, but it was lovely and heartwarming in…

    Taking Stock – November 2020

Far out brussell Sprout! I’m not sure how we got here, but I feel as though I have just done the most almighty slide through to the end of November. It’s been a crazy month with a few very unexpected events, reporting, Ames finished her Tafe Advanced Diploma course, and hubby had to fly up to Mackay to help his parents come home. I decided to spend some time cleaning up my social media platforms, and change the way I use social media, along with a few other huge end of year happenings. Here we are at the end of November wondering how we are going to fit everything we…

    Family: Mental Load

I’m not sure when I became aware of my desperate need for simplicity, but I remember starting to think about it more seriously not long after I had our fourth baby. Maybe it was the shock of having four children under 8? Although it could have been everything that was on my plate at the time, considering my dad had died 8 months prior to having Jaden! Also, 2011 was a massive year for us as it was also the year that our Amy was diagnosed with Chronic Recurring Multifocal Osteomyelitis (CRMO), and we started our four year journey getting Ames back to health. I know I spent a lot…

    Family: Teaching Life Skills

One of my favourite kids books of all time is Sean Covey’s ‘The 7 Habits of Happy Kids’. In this book there are seven stories based on Stephen Covey’s ‘The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People’. Sean Covey is one of Stephen Covey’s son’s. The characters are cute, the stories are enjoyable, short and a good example of one of the seven habits. Last night, Jaden wanted to hear the story ‘Pokey and the spelling test’. The theme was Put First things first, based on the work first play later concept. This story was about a little character called Pokey who loves to play with his friends, and decides to…

    Term 3 and Homeschooling Gameplans

Term three has officially started! We are about to start week two of the term, and I’m so not ready for Monday morning! Tafe also started back last week, so I again live in the car. Bep’s hours at work have officially gone up, which is a good thing, but it also means that we (hubby and I) have another ungodly hour to get up to each week with regard to dropping her off at work. The holidays went far too quickly for my liking. I had numerous things I wanted to accomplish, and if I am going to be honest I only tackled a few of those things on…

    Isolating At Home Holiday Ideas

Hello! Hope you’re doing well!? I was starting to feel the effects of the negative media chatter this week so I decided to drastically cut back on our ‘News’ intake. Almost instantly I started to feel calmer in myself. Limiting the noise is good for the soul. We now check on the news in the evening, and then get on with whatever we want to do after that. I miss the freedoms we had prior to what I like to call, ‘The global corona shutdown!’. I just want people to do the right thing, and do what we have been asked to do so this whole Corona Virus thing can…

    20 For 2020

Hello!! It’s that time of the year again! We look at our lives and draw a line in the sand, 2019 has fallen away, and a new year has begun. I love the first few weeks of the new year. It kind of feels like the sins of the past have disappeared. They are all behind the fireworks. Once the New Years fireworks have decorated the night sky on January 1 12 am, a new year is born. A brand new year, with brand new opportunities and experiences, await us. Adults have to realise that we are allowed to dream. Dreaming is not just for kids, its for all of…
